Kunming woke this morning to a magical and hushed winter wonderland with the city shrouded in a luscious blanket of freshly fallen snow. There can only have been one species that would remain cheerless today: the migratory Siberian seagull. This rather cranky looking gull was only one of thousands balancing precariously on the cables and huddling on top of the snow covered paddle boats in Green Lake Park and clearly wondering why their snow-free east asian winter refuge was suddenly covered in the stuff. Locals, meanwhile, raided the city centre lakeside park so as to not miss the opportunity of seeing snow for the first time in thirty years in Kunming and to show it to their kids.
